Identify and move on otherwise you’re kinda supporting it.George Ramirez (born July 31, 1994), better known by his stage name Kap G, is a Mexican-American rapper. Disclaimer: I do think there is a lot of new music that is shit, I just believe, there is no point in discussing it. Kids will always determine what cool is and if you’re aging and dislike it you’re only making it cooler. I am genuinely exited to hear more form this young artist and am interested to see how the industry is going to intake a young Mexican American kid with a Southern flow. Today my 17 year-old brother (a KAP G fan) text to tell me KAP G was working with Pharrell and he Instagramed a photo of the two in the studio. The more I heard from this young College Park kid the more I wished he got picked up by a label. and that made it’s way into constant rotation in my car. After that I needed to hear more.Įarlier this year KAP G recorded his version of U.O.E.N.O. Chief Keef’s posses a huge personality but KAP G managed to keep “Tatted Like Amigos” his. KAP G delivered a super catchy hook and some well delivered verses. Chief Keef was at the peak of his initial hype and yet KAP G wasn’t over shadowed. Like most outside of College Park, GA, I first heard of KAP G when Chief Keef jumped on his track “ Tatted Like Amigos” in 2012. KAP G is a young artist that I knew had the potential to create his own buzz. If you’re in your late 20-somethings and keep catching yourself complaining about new music you’re probably just getting old. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate and love a lot of the music I grew up with but that doesn’t mean all new artist suck. I’m tired of that shit and I haven’t even left my 20s yet. That’s why as people get older they often ridicule new artist and talk about how much better music was when they were growing up. It’s common for people to be nostalgic about the past especially when it comes to music. As I get older and prepare myself to exit the beloved 20s, I’ve become more cynical about almost everything, except the youth.
